The poster photograph was made during the DansPlats Skog residency, while the piece was still in the process of becoming. Working inside the rehearsal space, the image was built from what was already there: bodies, light, the density of the room. The commission was for a single image to carry the piece's premise: a figure suspended between states, neither fully here nor entirely gone.
Those Who Shimmer is an ensemble piece for five dancers, created by Nicole Neidert and developed collectively with the cast. Its starting point is a question about presence itself: when are we here, and where do we go? From a longing to let go and let presence be disrupted, to falling in love with the inability to distinguish what is real, simulated, or imagined. The piece explores states of mind where presence is thrown off balance, moving through different types of pressures, collapses, and densities in the spatial, physical, and sensorial realms. Poetic against clinical, grandiose against stripped back, foggy against crisp.
The piece was developed during a residency at DansPlats Skog, with early research supported by Uppsala Region and eventual co-production by Dansens Hus, where it premiered at Elverket in November 2024. The ensemble: Anton Borgström, Matilda Billberg, Jim De Block, Linn Ragnarsson, and Ella Ström. Light design by Maja Lindström, composition and sound by Peter Svenzon, decor by Simon Wilhelm, costumes counselled by Linnea Bågander. Jacob Tellin contributed special tracks.
